Private Tours

Franklin on Foot offers private tours that can be tailored to your specific interests, conforming to your schedule, at your convenience. Tours can be either walking or driving in your vehicle.

Here are some of the private tours our guests have enjoyed:

• Civil War in Franklin: We tour downtown Franklin's homes, churches and public buildings from the occupation period through the Battle of Franklin and aftermath. Tours of Lotz and Carter Houses and Carnton Plantation, Fort Granger and Winstead Hill may be added to the itinerary. Entrance fees to all 3 house museums add an additional $30 per person (admission to all 3 museums regularly $40). (2-8 hours)

• Franklin Churches: Franklin's historic downtown is home to many beautiful houses of worship, from the mother church of the Tennessee Episcopals to a church built for freed slaves. Beautiful stained glass, statuary and stories bring Franklin's religious history to life. (2-3 hours)

• Architecture: Downtown Franklin is a microcosm of 19th and 20th century American styles of architecture. Several early 19th century Federal-style structures remain, as well as Italianate, Queen Anne, Victorian, Romanesque Revival, Gothic Revival, Greek Revival and Art Deco. We'll visit them all, and hear the stories of their builders and residents from the past. (2-4 hours)

• The Insider's Guide to Franklin: In addition to our Classic Franklin tour, we'll tour one of Franklin's most charming private homes where we'll meet the lively, entertaining resident  from one of Franklin's oldest families. I'll make recommendations for and join you for lunch if you wish. Carnton, Carter and Lotz Houses may be added.

• Ghosts Galore: Our 90-minute Haunted Franklin tour covers a mere pittance of Franklin's ghost stories. We've got enough stories for at least a four-hour tour, maybe even more. You've got the time, we've got the ghosts!

Additionally, any of our regular tours can be turned into private tours for your group. Birthday parties, neighborhood association outings, supper clubs, wedding rehearsals, corporate events, bachelorette parties and Sunday school classes have all been the occasion for a Franklin on Foot private tour. Evening private ghost tours may not be available on weekends or in the month of October.

Private tours can be as short as 2 or as long as 8 hours.  The basic private tour is 2 hours for up to 4 people in your party for $140. Each additional person over 4 is $25 per tour.
